Ballet Flats and Slippers Are More Dangerous Than Heels
Healthcare professionals have been warning for several years about the long-term wearing of high heels.
According to British orthopaedists, however, ballerina flats and slippers are an even bigger problem today. Wearing them leads to more toe and foot injuries and has a negative impact on the arch of the foot and overall posture.
According to experts from London, flat soles can cause corns, back pain and even arthritis.
When worn long-term, high heels can cause fractures of the foot bones, ingrown toenails, hammer toes, corns, ankle and back pain, and limb fractures caused by falls.
The advantage of high heels is the fact that almost any legs look sexy in them. They put less strain on the Achilles tendon and can help with inflammation of the patellar tendon.
Flat soles cause foot pain due to fallen arches. The big toe shifts, becomes painful and stiff.
Experts warn against wearing slippers and flip-flops every day. Heels for daily wear should not be higher than 2.5 centimetres. At home, we should walk barefoot, let our feet breathe and rest. Longer distances to work or leisure activities should be covered in trainers.
